Wat Arun: Thailand Trip

Pertama kali mencoba hunting while travelling abroad..Tadinya sih mau bawa full gear: Body Canon 5 D Mark II + Lensa Canon 16-35 mm f 2.8L + Lensa Canon 24-105mm f4.0 L IS + Lensa Canon 50 mm f1.4 + Tripod Velbon Ultra Lux I L + berbagai aksesories..

Setelah mencoba jalan-jalan di dalam rumah sambil nggendong backpack Lowepro Flipside 400 AW + semua yang diatas itu didalamnya...weight 5 kg an ...Waduh...kok berat ya...hehehe..... I love photography...but no thank you deh...Lagian ini kan bukan travelling khusus buat photography...tapi ikutan tour sambil sempetin hunting foto...there is a BIG difference between travelling photography and photography while travelling...Apalagi sambil bawa anak kecil dan istri udah ngancam.."Pokoknya Bunda gak mau bawain tripod dan sebagainya...bawa sendiri!!! " Wakakaka....bahaya..assisten fotografer ngambek...hehehe

Cari alternatif lain...after extensive research...baca2 majalah fotografi dan browsing internet..finally make up my mind to buy a whole new camera system..Panasonic GF 1 Micro Four Third..Sempat ragu ragu juga karena price nya lumayan mahal..gak kalah sama DSLR..but I finally bite the bullet and take the plunge...

Afterall...it's a decision (a very expensive one) that I do not regret..Panasonic GF 1 system perform amazingly for a such small camera system (compared to DSLR)...The body of GF1 + Panasonic lens 20 mm pancake f 1.7 + Panny lens 14-45mm f3.5-5.6mm +Panny lens 45-200mm f 4.0-5.6 + accessories all fit in ONE WAIST BAG.....there is no hustle with a backpack....my shoulder is free from pain and suffering.....you won't draw attention from carrying the big gun like the DSLR so it's safer for you and your equipment....especially in foreign country...and finally..the image quality is very good...comparable to entry level DSLR..

Lesson well learned...you have to decide...Is it worth it to bring your big gun with thousand of dollar tag price....have to worry about your safety (and your equipment)... a sore shoulder from carrying all of those equipment all the time....not being able to fully enjoying your vacation... for top notch image quality....The answer may be yes if you are a proffesional photographer on a assigment for national geographic or whatever...

But if you are an amateur photographer, a hobbyist or someone who just love taking a good picture while travelling....I think micro four third system is the right solution for you...

Recently I bought the Panny 7-14 mm Ultra Wide Angle Lens....can't wait for my next trip to try this baby...may be next year...hehehe...
